Our Advanced Technology Group is part of the EA SPORTS Technology organization, focusing on identifying and creating new, scalable technologies for game teams. We closely collaborate with game teams, central art teams, and the Frostbite engine team; though the technologies developed can apply to many different engines, environments, and hardware platforms. You will work on our strategic, multi-year projects focused on user-generated experiences, improved creation pipelines and runtime functionality, both internal and player facing, for all EA SPORTS titles.
The ideal candidate for the Software Engineering Intern position at Electronic Arts is a motivated and collaborative individual with a passion for software engineering and a desire to contribute to innovative technology used by millions of sports gaming fans. You are eager to learn, comfortable working in a team environment, and ready to apply your technical skills to real-world challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Feature Implementation: Collaborate on the core logic and pipeline integration of shared technology features.
- Cross-Team Integration: Work alongside engineers and domain owners to integrate ATG technologies into active game team environments.
- Performance Optimization: Assist in analyzing and optimizing runtime performance, including load-time and frame-rate improvements.
- Guidance & Feedback: Participate in technical discussions, providing solutions and feedback for tool and workflow optimizations.

- You must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the entire internship - visa sponsorship is not available.
- You must be enrolled in an accredited degree program and return to school for at least one semester following your internship with EA.
- You must be graduating in May 2028 or later, including the time needed to complete your internship.
- Relocation support may be available if you meet specific eligibility criteria.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Entry-level experience; prior internship, coursework, or personal projects in software engineering or related fields are valued.
- C++ Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and debug clean, maintainable C++ code.
- Collaboration: Eagerness to work with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and QA/QV.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical ideas clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Active problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn new technologies.
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Math & Physics: Understanding of geometry, linear algebra, calculus, and physics as they pertain to transformations and motions in 3D Space.
Preferred Technical Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
- Web & Tooling: Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, or experience building tools and infrastructure.
- Testing: Exposure to automated testing frameworks or tools.
- Core Systems: An interest in multithreaded systems, or runtime performance analysis.
