Seniority: Intern

Buildertrend is a residential construction management platform that helps contractors manage financials, schedules, workflows, and client relationships. The Software Engineering Intern will build, test, maintain, and improve platform features while collaborating with engineering, product, and QA teams and participating in Agile development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and maintain software applications that support Buildertrend's platform
  • Partner with Software Engineers, Product Managers and QA to take features from concept to release
  • Write clean, well-documented code using languages and frameworks within Buildertrend's tech stack
  • Build and improve features that directly impact how customers manage their projects
  • Participate in code reviews to strengthen your code quality and learn from senior team members
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with guidance and mentorship from Senior Software Engineers
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including standups, sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, to accelerate coding, debugging and problem-solving workflows while still being responsible and accountable for the quality and accuracy of your work
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects within established sprint timelines

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • Strong interest in Software Engineering and a desire to grow your skills
  • Experience using AI tools (such as Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar) in coursework or personal projects, or a strong interest in learning how to use them effectively
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#/.NET, Java, and React
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Eager to learn, ask questions and apply feedback constructively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
