Seniority: Intern
Game Plan Tech is a mission-driven consulting and services firm that helps government teams access technologies that improve innovation, efficiency, performance, and security. The Software Engineering Intern will contribute as a full member of an engineering team, developing products and systems, collaborating cross-functionally, troubleshooting issues, and presenting project outcomes while developing technical skills with mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship code for user-facing products or internal systems
- Collaborate with your team (including other engineers, product managers, and designers) in agile ceremonies like daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Participate in code reviews, learning to give and receive constructive feedback
- Learn and utilize our modern tech stack, including [List 2-3 key technologies, e.g., React, Python (Django), AWS, GCP, Kubernetes]
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure our applications are fast, scalable, and reliable
- Present your work and project impact to your team and other company leaders
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Programming experience with at least one of the following: Python, Java, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- A link to your GitHub, personal website, or portfolio showcasing projects you've built (bonus)
- Previous internship or research experience (bonus)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS, GCP, or Azure) or version control (like Git) (bonus)
